How long should my battery last?
This article explains what the average battery lifespan is and factors that affect it whether in service or storage.
Batteries typically last between 3 and 5 years, depending on a number of factors:
- Daily depth of discharge
- Installation location
- Discharge rate
- Ambient temperature
- Charging ability (e.g. solar panel shading)
- Storage time without charge
Batteries will self-discharge at a rate of around 2–3% per month, depending on temperature, when in storage. Batteries have a usable shelf life of around 9 months at room temperature before they need to be recharged.
