Product Applicability
This bulletin applies to the following product:
- Wrong-Way Driver: WW400
Background
WW400 is Carmanah's wrong way vehicle detection, warning and alert system which utilizes two cameras. Each camera has an Ethernet connection which is protected by a rubber boot on the end of the cable.
If the Ethernet cable boot is not installed properly it can allow rain and moisture to get into the Ethernet port. This is a current carrying connection as the camera utilizes power over Ethernet (PoE). Water ingress can damage and render the camera unserviceable.
Below are reasons that water ingress and subsequent damage to the camera may occur:
- Rectangular portion of boot is not seated properly against camera body.
- Dielectric grease has not been applied to Ethernet connector.
- Incorrect (inner) grommet installed at the factory.
Procedure
Confirm the Ethernet cable boot on each camera is installed in the following manner:
- Apply dielectric grease to the Ethernet connector.
- Tighten mounting screws so that rectangular portion of boot assembly is tight against camera body.
- Inspect camera boot assembly and check for visible gaps where cable exits the boot assembly.
If you have any issues the camera itself or water ingress via the Ethernet boot please contact Carmanah.
